The Employment of Drone Technology in Construction Work
Drones are being cultivated in many industries with growing numbers each day. Construction industry has been one of those to benefit the most from the incorporation of unmanned aerial vehicles on job site besides agriculture. Drone technology has improved to a level that the construction sites can definitely profit in ways that were not possible before.
There are many ways through which drones are taking over human labor:
- Land Surveys
The very first task that UAVs ( unmanned aerial vehicles) perform for construction is land-survey. There used to be a common surveillance method called the bird-eye view which has been replaced by drone-eye view. Drone technology ensures that there are absolutely no mistakes and that the errors are eliminated. Moreover, it takes drones much less time to collect data compared to humans.
- Infrastructural Development
Construction drones are made with more enduring bodies which comes in handy on the site. Moreover, drones are taking over construction to a point that there is no need to employ human labor in certain places. They will significantly improve in the near future and shorten the amount of time it takes to finish construction of certain buildings too.
- Improvement in Communication
An important thing that any job site needs is means for communication. Contractors, superintendents and managers can do a quick surveillance and communicate any instructions they might have for the workers. Moreover, if a camera cannot reach somewhere, the drone will surely be able to move so that communication can be enhanced.
- Surveillance of Job Site
It is quite important to keep an eye for any irregular activities at job sites such as potential thieves trying to steal the products. However, construction drones have monitoring systems which are real-time and work 24/7 so you never lose touch. It is always better to keep looking for any dangers for the workers and inform them beforehand for their maximum security while they perform labor.
The overall improvement in construction due to drones has been obvious. Drone technology has not only helped in collecting accurate data for construction but also improved the working conditions of human workforce on the site. This can be seen as a positive change that will be observed on a larger level all around the world.
While construction drones are limited to a few states in a few countries, anyone can see that the future construction sites will definitely be more inclusive of drone technology.
Future of Drones in Construction
Drones perform a limited set of tasks in construction in the present world. One of the construction equipment makers called the Komatsu is working to incorporate 3D with drones. Drones have been statistically used for up to 28% of industrial inspections which is another number that will soon multiply in the next two years. By keeping in mind last years growth of drone on job site which is 239%, one can definitely see where the industry might go in coming years. In other words, unmanned aerial vehicles are the future solution for job sites.
